This is when your mind wakes up from sleep, but your body is still under the control of the brain juices that keep you from moving around while you dream. In this state you can experience extremely realistic hallucinations. For some reason, many people who experience sleep paralysis have the same kind of “waking dream”. Often they are being pinned down, watched or prodded. It’s thought that this experience is where tales of demonic possessions or alien abductions come from. It can be nightmarish, but sometimes it’s just plain weird.
